Understanding Economic Morphology

Economic Morphology is paired directly with Economic Physiology through the biological analogy of organism form versus function; where physiology is the activity a system performs, morphology is the structural resource that performs it, illustrated by the digestive system’s organs (throat, stomach, intestines) as the morphological counterpart to the physiological process of digestion. The chapter stresses these two perspectives are not mutually exclusive but are complementary views of the same Economic System.
