Understanding Department Locus

The Department Locus is equivalent to the terminal Work Group — defined precisely as the Work Group carrying a Terminal Case Marker of Product, Byproduct, Money, or Itp(1) — and describes the Enterprise’s (or, in the Customer of Customer Field, the Customer’s) product as ultimately used there. Reaching it is the terminating condition for a chain of product-tier coding: it is identified once the Terminal Case Marker on a Work Group Locus signals that the work group is at the customer’s Central Department Cycle, ending further iteration through product tiers. It normally just repeats the terminal work group’s activity and object, carrying over any Distinguishing Resources or Intermediary/Output markers; the one exception is DivM, where because the terminal case means many different underlying paths lead to different terminal work groups, the Department Locus is always fixed as DivA DivA rather than copying the non-representative terminal work group.
