Understanding Barcode Marker

Markers are natural-language tags attached to a locus that supply contextual, non-functional information the locus alone cannot express — for example, whether the agent at a locus is a business, consumer, or government. Each marker has a fixed, enumerated set of possible values (e.g., Product Type: Activity Product/Resource Product/Diversified; Process: In-house/Outsourced). The full marker set enumerated for the Enterprise Barcode includes the Product Type Marker, Intermediary Type Marker (used to distinguish Agent, Payer, and With Inventory intermediary situations), Process Marker, Temporal Coordinate, Terminal Case Marker, Customer Type Marker, Customer Relationship Marker, Product Line Marker, and Relationship Type Marker.
