Understanding Division

A division is produced by splitting each of the four phases into three sequential parts — pre-, central-, and post- — giving the 12-part Activity Cycle. The chapter defines the central division as the key action of the phase (e.g., for procurement, the physical transportation of materials into possession), the pre- division as planning and setting up conditions for the central action, and the post- division as recording completion for quality control.
