Understanding Subject Resource Production Cycle

A Subject Resource Production Cycle (SRPC) can be fulfilled either internally or through outsourcing, as the bakery example illustrates: a bakery could contract a company to build a custom oven (an activity product) or simply purchase one from a supply store (a resource product), and in both cases the oven’s SRPC has effectively been outsourced to another economic entity. The Ford case study demonstrates the same structure concretely — Ford’s 1.3 department has its own supporting SRPC for producing an “A” subject resource such as a warehouse, complete with its own 36-activity cycle. The reference tables’ “fishbones model” diagram depicts this relationship between a Central Department Cycle and its SRPCs by drawing the Central Department Cycle without its own subject resources, specifically to avoid depicting them twice, since the SRPCs are the systems that ultimately produce those very resources.
