Understanding Work Group Cycle

The Ford case study demonstrates a key structural result: when the Central Department Cycle’s own 2.2.2 department (car production) is reoriented into its own Work Group Cycle, the resulting cycle is functionally identical to the original Central Department Cycle, because both are oriented around the same underlying function of producing cars. This equivalence generalizes — any work group within a department is functionally equivalent to that same-numbered department in the firm’s Central Department Cycle (e.g., the 1.3 work group inside Ford’s 2.2 department functions the same as Ford’s own 1.3 department).
